In this activity, the 3 first S's of lean manufacturing will be applied to one disorganized laundry at home:
1.Sort:
The first step of the process is to organize all the items that are going to be used in the laundry section, anything else besides that will be placed in its designated area of the house. All the dirty clothes, washing powder, softener, iron, ironing board, tumble dryer, washing machine, clothes bucket, etc. will be used in the laundry area, thus, they will be placed and organized in the laundry.
2.Set:
The second step of the process is to put signs all over the laundry area and in the items signs like where to find certain kind of washing powder or where´s the ironing board, etc. Another important signs to be placed would be which substances are toxic or dangerous, that are used in laundry.
3. Sweep:
The third step of the process is to clean all the laundry area and organize as previously described, removing and getting out all the stuff that doesn´t do or belong with laundry.
